A fresh coat of new paint!

Out with the old, in with the new as the protagonist from “Mighty No. 9” undergoes a color scheme transformation.

Years after video game producer Keiji Inafume departed from Capcom and began his very own company, he reached out to die-hard Mega Man fans in order for them to advocate and fund his new project. Captivating the attention of the veterans with “Mighty No. 9” was quite an easy feat, given the fact that this new IP is essentially a spiritual successor of the dormant “Mega Man” franchise. The main hero Beck features striking similarities to Capcom’s blue bomber based on his combat skills, weapon properties and overall appearance.

“Mighty No.9” has been in development for quite some time, along with the constant fan interjection that’s prolonging the overall process. This time around, Japanese studio Inti Creates and Comcept decided that it was appropriate to alter Beck’s color scheme without the choice of their fellow Kickstarter followers. According to the director Koji Imaeda, the decision was made due to the color white portraying a range of possibilities:

“From the very beginning we designed Beck to have a neutral, grey base, with the idea of wanting to make something completely new and unique,” Imaeda said. “But development soldiered on, and as we approached the last leg, we started looking closer at Beck.”

“As a protagonist that could absorb the abilities of his siblings and take on various forms, our image of his appropriate color shifted from “neutrality” to “containing all possibilities”… and since white is a combination of all colors of light, we felt that would actually suit his character better! Hence, we went with the coloring change.”

“Mighty No. 9” is slated sometime in spring 2015 for Wii U and 3DS, along with a plethora of other platforms as well.
